It does not need a "dpkg-reconfigure", but it needs that you run "update-nagios", as Nagios itself does not read in /etc/nagios-plugins/config, but in /etc/nagios/checkcommands.cfg, which is autogenerated by "update-nagios" from files in /etc/nagios-plugins/config.
