Is it really due to compile time options or more because /var/lib/dpkg/info/mysql-server.preinst does a "grep mysql /etc/passwd" which, of course, fails in your case. (It has been replaced by a "getent passwd mysql" which should work. If it's really due to the compile option I would be interested to know why this makes a difference. bye, -christian-
