Package: vlc Version: 0.8.1-3 Severity: important
I run my GNOME sessions with a German interface, with the locale settings being [EMAIL PROTECTED] LC_CTYPE="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_NUMERIC="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_TIME="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_COLLATE="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_MONETARY="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_MESSAGES="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_PAPER="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_NAME="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_ADDRESS="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_TELEPHONE="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_MEASUREMENT="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_IDENTIFICATION="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" LC_ALL= With these settings many text pieces are missing in wxvlc, including the first 5 menu entries of the "File" menu, all explanations next to the check buttons in the "Processor" tab of the Settings dialogue and many more. So I tried to change the language setting in ~/.vlc/vlcrc First I tried via the settings dialogue of wxvlc. But the text "Automatisch" for the "Language" (DE: "Sprache") is not editable (though the text field is active, implying editability. By the way: shouldn't this be a drop-down list of available language settings???) Next I tried editing the ~/.vlc/vlcrc file manually. I assumed English would be a good choice and tried language=en. No change in the program. Nowhere did I find any clue how to set the language to something that would at least provide me with a complete interface in wxvlc. This renders the wxvlc program completely useless, especially for beginners and/or people who do not speak English well.
