Package: munin-node
Version: 1.4.6-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

aptitude upgraded to munin-node 2.0~rc2 on one machine. The other machine
where munin 1.4.5-3 was running was not touched. The munin server could not
get any data anymore from the upgraded machine. Downgrading to munin-node
1.4.6-3 on the previously upgraded machine restored data flow from the
node to the server.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Upgrade was done with

aptitude safe-upgrade

When munin-node was due in this session I was asked whether I would like
to install the standard config file and I answered no. After that the munin
server on a different host could not communicate with that node anymore. In
its logfile it wrote:

2012/03/23 05:25:02 [WARNING] Config node k83 listed no services for k83.
Please see http://munin-monitoring.org/wiki/FAQ_no_graphs for further
information.

I followed that link and came to the conclusion that none of the problems
listed there seemed to be applicable.

I downgraded with

aptitude install -t testing munin-node/testing munin-common/testing

This was sufficient to restore communication between master and node.
