I just compiled mdadm from squeeze and linked it static (on a squeeze system): cd /usr/local/src/ apt-get source mdadm apt-get build-dep mdadm cd mdadm-* diff Makefile.original Makefile 87,88c87,88 < # LDFLAGS = -static < # STRIP = -s --- > LDFLAGS = -static > STRIP = -s debian/rules binary With the resulting binary I have successful removed and added a raid1 bitmap within a wheezy system without kernel crash or reboot. -- greetings eMHa
