Exaile uses libgpod, which as far as I'm aware does not require a jailbroken iPod to work. However, I don't have an iPod and have never used Exaile's iPod plugin before, so I can neither confirm nor help you debug whatever problem you're having. All I can do is forward this bug report upstream. Before doing so, could you run Exaile from a terminal ($ LC_ALL=C exaile --debug) and attach the output along with a step-by-step list of instructions to reproduce this bug? Any additional information you can provide for me to forward upstream would be helpful.
