You have a nubus powermac ? Or are otherwise using the nubus config ? If so i
believe you need also the nubus patch-set which provides the above. The nubus
kernels are a bit flakey still, so bear with us while we work them out.

In all other cases, including if you have a powerpc/apus box, you should
plainly forget about 2.4.27 kernels and use either 2.6.12-10 (as in etch/sid
right now), or use the 2.6.12 backport for sarge at :

  http://people.debian.org/~luther/kernel

2.4.x kernels are *NOT* supported in etch/sid on anything but nubus powermacs,
and are *NOT* supported in sarge for anything apart from miboot oldworld boot
floppies or nubus/apus.
