Actually, Ubuntu has a pre-release of the 2.0 version of euca2ools in its bzr repository, so I prefer the bug to stay open. Personally, I do not have enough skill and knowledge to follow an unrelased version, but if you or somebody elese who knows what he is doing wants to follow Ubuntu's version, that may be useful to many.
