Package: emacs-chess
Version: 2.0b6-1.1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/install/emacs-chess
emacs-chess doesn't seem to be byte compiled. I thought
/usr/share/emacs23/site-lisp/chess/ might have .elc files, but it's
empty.
The dpkg install prints
install/emacs-chess: Handling install for emacsen flavor emacs23, logging
to /tmp/elc_Gc88Wy.log
and that file contains
emacs23 -q -batch -l chess-maint.el -f batch-byte-compile
chess-algebraic.el chess-pos.el chess-ply.el
...
Cannot open load file: chess-maint.el
There doesn't seem to be a chess-maint.el in the package.
I take it the "set -e" in the install script is to stop on error, but it
seems the use of "&&" with the various commands defeats that, letting
the byte compiler error silently go through.
