Hello Thanks for this patch. FYI distcc is currently RFA/ITA (#664497) and I am in the process of updating the packaging and applying fixes with intent to adopt. This work should be done within a couple of days and includes many bug fixes (include this FTBFS). Feel free to NMU if you see nothing happening by the end of the week.
