Package: xchat
Version: 2.4.5-2
Severity: minor

Hello,

while trying to create a lightweight system for internet access I
discovered that xchat pulls Python and Tcl. For which reason? There is
IMO no good one. Those interpreters are needed for certain plugin
scripts but there are no such scripts installed by defaults and Xchat
starts just fine without ever using those plugins.

So I suggest to do the same thing that happens in Debian all the time
(xmms is the next best example I can think of):
ignore the library dependencies of python.so and tcl.so and put tcl8.4
and python2.3 into the Recommends: field.

That works. I have have added -Xpython.so -Xtcl.so to dh_shlibdeps and
the result worked just fine.

Eduard.
