That's it. That's why my proposed file will clear the screen _only_ if you on console. It checks for the parent PID, if it's 'login' then we are in the console and it get cleared. If you are running through a SSH connection your PPID is not login (it's 'sshd') if you are running bash in a desktop environment your PPID is not login (it's 'gnome-terminal', 'kterminal' or whatever terminal application you use) > Grateful, if you could do this.
