Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi there!

According to:
http://pear.php.net/package/Benchmark/

upstream isn't maintaining the software anymore. Of course, because that
is also the upstream of http://pear.phpunit.de/, which has move all of
his packaging in a separate PEAR channel, and isn't using php-benchmark
at all anymore (the last upstream release was in fact 1.2.7 from 2007,
the newer versions were PEAR QA team uploads). Having a look inside the
upstream sources of php-benchmark, it's 100% clear that phpunit (and
its dependencies) is the successor of php-benchmark.

There's no reason to keep php-benchmark in SID and/or testing anymore,
since PHPUnit 3.6 has just reached SID yesterday, thanks to the recent
approval of all its dependencies (thanks guys!). There is then no
reverse dependency for php-benchmark anymore (the only one that there
was, was phpunit, which doesn't depend on it anymore).

So, I believe php-benchmark should be RM from both SID and testing.
