The client fetches and returns data, the scientific app does all the computation. 99.9999% of all BOINC users download a binary from the BOINC servers and execute that. But how could we Debian folks render our users to such an insecure sin ... however practical that is.
The boinc-app-seti package is not used by the user directly but only through the boinc-client. It is completely optional to something that is already optional. Sounds like 'extra' to me. No idea about how many are reading this ... please just all contribute to some scientific project through BOINC with your idle time.
