Package: moreutils Version: 0.41 Severity: wishlist
Some commands, specially those which deal with networks, are not guaranteed to work on the first try. A simple looping utility would re-run the command until it succeeds. As a demo, I wrote this Bash script: http://code.google.com/p/tokland/source/browse/trunk/tools/loop.sh You can customize the maximum retry count, the time between retries, the retriable exit codes, etc. thanks, arnau -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18.8-linode22 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages moreutils depends on: ii libc6 2.11.3-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii perl 5.10.1-17squeeze3 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction moreutils recommends no packages.
