Oops, I forgot to mention some technical details about my previous report.
I'm using Debian Sid, package versions:ii gimp 2.8.0-2 The GNU Image Manipulation Program ii gimp-plugin-regis 5.20120523 repository of optional extensions for GIMP Sadly, after some more testing, the "smart remove selection" filter does not seem to work correctly anymore for me. Instead of covering the selection with a random patchwork of textures taken in its surroundings, each re-do providing a different random pick, it now seems to do something weird, spreading colors inside the selection, re-execution spreading colors further until the whole selection of filled with a single color.
