Package: libgl1-nvidia-glx Version: 295.53-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
currently, libgl1-nvidia-glx can not be installed in a foreign architecture since it depends on libxvmc1, which has not yet been converted to multi-arch [1]. This means that foreign-architecture applications can not use hardware-accelerated OpenGL. However, libgl1-nvidia-glx-ia32 which used to provide this functionality, only depends on ia32-libs, which does not contain libxvmc. So the driver actually works without it available. From what I understood, the nvidia drivers merely provide an alternative xvmc implementation which has to be manually set up in /etc/X11/XvMCConfig. Besides, GeForce 8 and later cards do not even support xvmc at all [2]. Since the package does not actually depend on anything libxvmc does or provides, I suggest to downgrade the Depends: to a Recommends: Kind regards, Ralf [1] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=640499 [2] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Enable_XvMC_for_NVIDIA_video_cards -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 depends on: ii libc6 2.13-33 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.99.901-2 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2 ii libxv1 2:1.0.7-1 ii libxvmc1 2:1.0.7-1.1~local ii multiarch-support 2.13-33 ii nvidia-alternative 295.53-1 ii nvidia-installer-cleanup 20111111+3 ii nvidia-support 20111111+3 Versions of packages libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 recommends: ii nvidia-kernel-dkms [nvidia-kernel-295.53] 295.53-1 Versions of packages libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 suggests: ii nvidia-kernel-dkms [nvidia-kernel-dkms] 295.53-1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
