Package: debian-reference-en Version: 2.48 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
in Debian Reference I see: $ ls -ld /tmp /var/tmp /usr/local /var/mail /usr/src [...] drwxrwsr-x 4 root src 4096 2007-04-27 00:31 /usr/src but if I execute the command I get drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 14 dic 2010 /usr/src and I see: $ cd /usr/src $ wget http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.2/linux-<version>.tar.bz2 but you cannot write in /usr/src as user (either with a user in the src group) I think the new /usr/src owner:group is introduced by the bug #573701 I think that the /usr/src directory must be root:src with write permission for user in the src group, but I don't understand why is not anymore valid. I will prefer to have the old /usr/src directory, elsewhere the src group is not more useful Ciao Davide -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=it_IT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=it_IT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages debian-reference-en depends on: ii debian-reference-common 2.48 debian-reference-en recommends no packages.
