I think rlb will make official emacs 24 packages pretty soon; I'll
certainly support those when I know what they are called.

Depending on a package outside the archive as an alternative seems
a bit uncertain  w.r.t. policy 2.2.1. See #587279. So since the hardship
is not that huge, and hopefully not that long (feel free to bug rlb
about that ;) ), I think I won't add the dependency now.

That includes xemacs, which is not supported by upstream afaik.
And I really ought to know ;). It might also include emacs22 on some
crufty systems, which is also not supported.
