Whooo, it works! I followed that guy's instructions, chmodded the synce.dev file to 755, restarted hotplug and udev, and it works! I turned on my iPAQ in its cradle, and it connected right up! synce-pstatus reports everything a-ok! Wow, if you can get this into Debian, that will make Pocket PCs really plug-and-play! We just need librra fixed so raki won't crash, and then all you would have to do is install raki, have it pull in synce-serial, and then run raki. Then when you connect your PPC, it would connect, raki would pick it up, and boom, you can install cabs and copy files back and forth. Then a little more fiddling with Multisync and you can back up your PPC's PIM data, and sort-of sync with Evolution (though that's a bit buggy still).
