Package: rubber
Version: 1.1+20100306-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When bibtex reports a warning, rubber does not manage to compile properly and
does not report any reason for not doing so.

$ rubber -d main
compiling main.tex...
running BibTeX on main...

$ rubber -d main
nothing to be done for main

$ rubber -df main
compiling main.tex...
running BibTeX on main...

etc.

Invoking bibtex directly is necessary to understand the problem:

$ bibtex main
This is BibTeX, Version 0.99d (TeX Live 2012/Debian)
The top-level auxiliary file: main.aux
The style file: plainnat.bst
Database file #1: main.bib
Warning--can't use both volume and number fields in salcianu01pointer
(There was 1 warning)

$ echo $?
0

rubber 1.1-2.4 does not have this behaviour: the warning is simply ignored.
I think that, if rubber is to fail in that case (which I doubt, since bibtex
did not), it should at least report why.

Best regards
Samuel Hym
