Sorry, I should have been a bit more verbose: I was quoting a part of the diff between testing and unstable. Surely doing that should be sufficient: sed -i 's/^PKG/DPKG/' debian/rules It seems you're lucky, build tests show no difference with or without that change, so I'm lowering this report's severity for now. Also, run time tests on amd64 with a wheezy d-i image built against slang2_2.2.4-15 (pic package on the host + udeb in localudebs/) seems to work fine, so I'll probably ask the release team to unblock the package currently in unstable.
