Given #681050, I tried another approach: dpkg --force-depends -P on
anything matching '*samba*' or '*smb*' on my system, then apt-get -f
install, and finally apt-get install samba4 again → same issue.

D'oh! :(

I guess something is wrong around here (as far as samba4 is concerned):
| Setting up samba-common (2:3.6.6-2) ...
| Creating config file /etc/samba/smb.conf with new version
