Same problem here. I'm running Debian Squeeze but have enabled the testing
repositories. I only installed Debian two days ago and Zoneminder today.
Zoneminder version is 1.25.0-1.1+b1. Everything works fine as long as the
authentication hashing is disabled. When checked in the options, I get no
more streaming and errors like the following in the log:

2012-07-18 03:03:45.540806 zms[14785].ERR-zms.cpp/221 [Unable to
authenticate user]
2012-07-18 03:03:45.619066 zms[14787].ERR-zms.cpp/221 [Unable to
authenticate user]
2012-07-18 03:03:45.699499 zms[14789].ERR-zms.cpp/221 [Unable to
authenticate user]
2012-07-18 03:03:55.145383
web_php[11732].ERR-/usr/share/zoneminder/includes/functions.php/2322
[socket_sendto( /tmp/zm/zms-499111s.sock ) failed: No such file or
directory]

Please note: I originally had errors along the lines of "Unable to
initialise libgcrypt". I upgraded package libgcrypt11 to version 1.5.0-3
and those messages went away, but I'm still stuck with the above errors.

Output of uname -r:
2.6.32-5-powerpc
