Package: autofs
Version: 5.0.6-2
Severity: normal

Dear maintainer,

since the last update of the autofs package the automounter does not
start if /run is not present or writeable. It exists with a misleading
error message:

# /etc/init.d/autofs start
Starting automount automount.../usr/sbin/automount: program is already running.
.
#

strace helps locating the problem:

[pid 3014] open("/run/autofs-running.3014", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT, 0) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
[pid 3014] write(2, "/usr/sbin/automount: program is "...,
49/usr/sbin/automount: program is already running. ) = 49

Since /run was introduced after Squeeze was released, this should be
mentioned in the changelog (beside correcting the error message).
