I don't really see a change that should have an influence on this. I assume changing the version included a reboot? There is a small possibility w.r.t the radeon blacklist ... If you go back to 1:12-6+point-1 and run update-initramfs -u (after downgrading, before rebooting) - do you get a working system, too?
