Hi, I agree that a hard-coded default bitrate is not very user-friendly. I think the best approach would be to detect the bitrate of the input file and apply that to the output file. I've forwarded the bug to upstream: https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/index.php?37267 However, the project is rather inactive for a long time and my perl skills are quite limited.
