So nvidia-xconfig may have misdetected the X version and generated a file with the wrong name. Please retry with the current version of nvidia-xconfig (304.48-1) but first move aside your XF86Config and delete the xorg.conf symlink to regenerate the file from scratch - does it use the correct filename?
