Neither can I now, so I suppose there's not much that can be done except
to close this bug. Perhaps it was caused by my mistake in using $EVENTS
as well as -n.

OK. I had a little trouble with that because I had nested quotes in
/etc/default/inputlirc but it's working now.

I know, but I installed it after inputlirc didn't work, and for irw etc.
But inputlirc seems better to me, because it's much simpler to set up
and it seems to have a more sensible default repeat/delay, although no
doubt that can be configured in lirc.
