sane can be compiled with libusb-1.0 support and Ubuntu has started to build sane this way. libusb-0.1 is unmaintained and this starts to become a problem with USB3.0 (and xhci_hcd). Assumptions that were true for ohci/ehci are not true for xhci anymore and libusb needs to be adjusted.
