Package: python-moinmoin
Version: 1.3.4-3
Severity: normal

I like the way that debian has packaged moin lately (farmconfig rocks),
but I am getting fed up with having to manually update my underlay pages
when I see an upgrade happen. When I set the following in an instance's
configuration file:

        data_underlay_dir = '/usr/share/moin/underlay/'

I get the following error:

        MoinMoin Configuration Error

        "data_underlay_dir" does not exists at
        "/usr/share/moin/underlay/", or has incorrect ownership and
        permissions.

        Make sure the directory and the subdirectory pages are owned by
        the web server and are readable, writable and executable by the
        web server user and group.

        It is recommended to use absolute paths and not relative paths.
        Check also the spelling of the directory name.

                * linux2 (posix)
                * Python 2.3.5 (/usr/bin/python)
                * MoinMoin release 1.3.4 (revision 1.3.4 release)

As I understand it, the underlay is simply read-only fallback content
for basic system pages. It's meant to be upgraded to track the current
version of the installed code, and making each instance maintain a
separate copy is an unnecessary administrative headache.

Is there some simple way to assure moinmoin that a read-only underlay is
nothing to freak out about?
