Package: wicd
Version: 1.7.2.4-2
Severity: normal

I find that wicd-curses works fine when used in one place (work,
home), but in a real conference setting with mulitple APs it often
dies with:

DBus failure! This is most likely caused by the wicd daemon stopping while
wicd-curses is running. Please restart the daemon, and then restart wicd-curses.

dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not
receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a
reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout
expired, or the network connection was broken.

This happens just from moving about between rooms, and thus
APs. It may also happen from suspending/unsuspending the laptop - I've
not checked carefully enough to be sure.

So maybe half the time, after I've moved somewhere else after an hour
or two, I find that the network is not up and wicd-curses is in this
state. re-running it causes a re-connect or reports that the
connection is already up. I generally leave wicd-curses running in a
terminal for network monitoring purposes (I prefer it to the wicd-gtk
interface).

The wicd dameon always seems to be still running, contrary to the
suggestion in the error message. It seems to me that wicd-curses
should deal better with this state and continue running.
