I know that's not a funny art of timespending but please try to start from a fresh clean profile. Remember to backup your current folder .icedove! On my work in the past time we had a lot of trouble with thees profiles which are upgraded from various older versions. And so on there was some kind of "wonderful" effects with the prefs.js.
