Package: dovecot
Version: 1:2.1.7-4
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,

After an update from 1:2.1.7-2 to 1:2.1.7-4, I could not access my
mailboxes at ~/Maildir any more.

(This may be related to #644121.)

I noticed the following line in conf.d/10-mail.conf:

,----
| mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
`----

My git (etckeeper) repository shows that previously, mail_location had
been commented out. Commenting it out again fixes the problem for me.
(Is ~/Maildir the default value set at compile time?)

Below I have pasted the only dovecot-related output I was able to
capture from the screen session. It is clear that conf.d/10-mail.conf
has been overwritten during the upgrade.

,----
| Setting up dovecot-core (1:2.1.7-4) ...
| Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/dovecot ...
| Replacing config file /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf with new version

| You already have ssl certs for dovecot.
| However you should move them out of /etc/ssl
| and into /etc/dovecot and update the configuration
| in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-ssl.conf accordingly.
| See /usr/share/dovecot-core/NEWS.Debian for details.
| Starting IMAP/POP3 mail server: dovecot.

Cheers,
-Hilko
