Package: xserver-common-v3
Version: 3.3.6-44
Severity: normal
I recently installed debian/sarge on an old Microway Alpha workstation
with a Matrox Millenium II video card. I had trouble starting X, as the
card seems not to be recognized by the xfree server from XFree86 version
4. After several unsuccesful attempts, installing some packages and
removing others, I was finally succesful after installing
xserver-common-v3 and xserver-svga from the old stable distribution, and
configuring the system with xf86config-v3. However, I get the following
error message
Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
which I don't quite understand. I ran the suggested commands, with the
results:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xprop -root |grep XKB
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
