I think the patch for this issue is ready in GIT:
git://github.com/anbe42/sendmail.git branch salvage (or bug-681147)
No further changes since I first posted this.
I just didn't proceed to prepare a NMU and look for a sponsor since
there is another RC bug (#684645) that I don't know how to fix.
After excluding
- deletion of generated and obsolete files
- adding aclocal.m4
- regeneration of debian/configure
- renaming the README files
the raw diffstat is
42 files changed, 163 insertions(+), 653 deletions(-)
compared to the unfiltered diff:
137 files changed, 1577 insertions(+), 19855 deletions(-)
Andreas Beckmann (17):
prepare 8.14.4-2.2 NMU
debian/rules clean: run maintainer-clean
delete generated files
delete obsolete files
control.m4.in: add libdb-dev dependency
debian/rules: add refresh-debian-configure target
debian/configure.ac: remove the deleted maintainer scripts
cleanup /usr/share/doc/sendmail after upgrades (where possible)
cleanup obsolete /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hooks.d/sendmail
remove /etc/mail/{sendmail,submit}.cf.old on purge
do not create symlinks in /usr/share/bug
remove /usr/share/bug/$PACKAGE symlinks on upgrade
install bug-control, bug-script in all packages
fix upgrades from sendmail-base that shipped /usr/share/bug/sendmail/*
style/commentary cleanup in the fully rewritten preinst scripts
rename debian/README.Debian.$PACKAGE -> debian/$PACKAGE.README.Debian
debian/{configure,control}: regenerated
Tobias Hansen (1):
undo /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE -> /usr/share/doc/sendmail symlinks
