Package: gnome-screensaver Version: 3.6.0-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation?
I had to switch to kdm as gdm3 was failing to start normally. See #692814 * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I chose GNOME from the desktop environments list in kdm and logged in and tried to lock the screen. * What was the outcome of this action? Screen was not getting locked as gnome-screensaver was not running. * What outcome did you expect instead? I should be able to lock my system irrespective of the display manager I chose. Did anything change between the way a dm starts a session? Could it be a bug in gnome-session or kdm? pravi@savannah:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-session gnome-session: Installed: 3.6.0-1 Candidate: 3.6.0-1 pravi@savannah:~$ apt-cache policy kdm kdm: Installed: 4:4.8.4-4 Candidate: 4:4.8.4-4 pravi@savannah:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-screensaver gnome-screensaver: Installed: 3.6.0-1 Candidate: 3.6.0-1 -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ml_IN, LC_CTYPE=ml_IN (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gnome-screensaver depends on: ii dbus-x11 1.6.8-1 ii dpkg 1.16.9 ii gnome-icon-theme 3.4.0-2 ii gnome-session-bin 3.6.0-1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.6.0-1 ii libc6 2.13-36 ii libcairo2 1.12.2-2 ii libdbus-1-3 1.6.8-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.100-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.26.1-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.34.2-1 ii libgnome-desktop-3-4 3.6.1-1 ii libgnomekbd7 3.4.0.2-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.6.1-1 ii libpam0g 1.1.3-7.1 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2 ii libxklavier16 5.2.1-1 ii libxxf86vm1 1:1.1.2-1 Versions of packages gnome-screensaver recommends: ii gnome-power-manager 3.4.0-2 ii libpam-gnome-keyring 3.4.1-5 gnome-screensaver suggests no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
