That happens because "Space" is not for reading/scrolling messages.
"Space" is used to "Scroll Down Current Message, then Go to Next Unread
Message".

There is a uncomfortable way to work around this, try to use "F6" and
the "Up" and "Down" keys.

I dont have checked the KeyConfig Addon, maybe there is a better way to
get scrolling the various mails.
