I haven't had a chance to look into the details, but this morning I noticed my DELL XPS L702X would not get a DHCP address on the wired network. The only change I could think of since the previous boot was that I had added the recently installed laptop-mode-tools to the default runlevel at boot. I removed them from default runlevel, rebooted, and the wired network came up. The error I was getting implied that the DHCP request was timing out because the adapter was waiting for carrier.
I'm running Gentoo, so Debian bugs is probably not quite the right forum for me to be chatting on. However I saw that Ritesh said Guillem's problem was not often reported. I wanted to chime in and say that I see the problem too. I'm running laptop-mode-tools version 1-60-r1. Thanks, -Rob.
