Dear package tidy maintainer, Short investigation shows that there another tidy marketed by w3c which understands html5. https://github.com/w3c/tidy-html5
There are signals that it is compile able to rpm and finally convertible do deb. https://github.com/w3c/tidy-html5/tree/master/build/rpm I'd suggest to create a new tidy-html5 package and resolving this bug as not related to tidy package.
