I might not need a core just yet; I see a couple suspicious things going on
here. Two questions:
(1) when you were downloading the package, did two "package download" views
appear instead of just one?
(2) did you get a security warning dialog before downloading?
I see both of these symptoms, and while the download hasn't finished yet,
it looks like two simultaneous sets of install-run processes/threads/objects
are being created for some reason. This is never supposed to happen and is
probably the cause of the crash.
