From your System Information I guess that you tried to upgrade to 3:4.8.3-10
from "testing" -- this is not guaranteed to work.
Although I'm surprised that it didn't work for you it is worth noticing that
for Squeeze there is a version "3:4.8.3-10~bpo60+1" available from squeeze-
backports, see
http://backports-master.debian.org/Instructions/
Could you please try MC from squeeze-backports to see if it work for you?
