Having given this some thought, I'm not sure this is a bug, really. If the system is not desiged to be battery-powered (e.g., because it is a desktop system, not a laptop), showing any battery-related icon would be wrong. Since we're using the output of the "acpi" command, which does not distinguish between 'the battery was removed' or 'this system does not have the ability to run on battery power', that makes it hard to conditionally show a "battery missing" icon. As such, a missing icon is actually a better result, though it might make sense to actively disable the icon (rather than passively allowing it to remain where it is, which in many cases turns out to be the same thing). Since I don't agree this is a bug, marking as wishlist instead. -- Copyshops should do vouchers.
