Related to this, I just found the following in
/usr/share/doc/dpkg-dev/triggers.txt.gz.
Because of the restriction on trigger names, it is not possible to
declare a file trigger for a directory whose name contains whitespace,
i18n characters, etc. Such a trigger should not be necessary.
