Package: alsa-utils Version: 1.0.25-4 Severity: wishlist There seems to be an upper frequency limit of 5kHz when the speaker-test program is used to generate a sinusoid signal.
When I ask the program for a higher frequency, a 5kHz signal is produced, without any warning that the program has reduced the frequency from my requested value. A frequency of 5kHz is too low for testing the upper register of audible sounds. Please increase this to e.g. 20kHz, and please include information about these lower and upper limits in the man page, together with the description of the --rate option.
