For #554156 here is some more info on mpd and pulseaudio: Upstream recommends configuring mpd audio output to to point at pulseaudio running on localhost and then use paprefs to enable network access for localhost.
http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Configuration which if mpd is configured to listen on loopback doesn't open things up to other hosts on the network, but does sort of assume that the system only has one user (or that all users should be allowed to access pulseaudio). Ubuntu's wiki recommends similar https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MPD I find it weird that this might result in a system wide service (mpd) accessing a user run service (pulseaudio). It would be nice to come up with a better way of solving this by default, especially now that pulseaudio is the default audio service. -- Matt Taggart [email protected] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
