tags 134544 + upstream, confirmed, fixed-upstream
thanks

Hello,

this problem was fixed in the past.
With cifs I can create files > 2gb without problems on a samba server.
With smbfs there is a limit of 2gb which can the disabled with the "lfs"
option which is not in the manpage (see #289179).

smbfs is "a dead project" for upstream and you should use cifs.
