Kernel is standard (package kernel-image-2.6.11-1-686)
I just did the following:
- removed the package sl-modem-modules-2.6.11-1-686
- "rmmod slamr" (confirmed before lsmod that the module was there,
then after it wasn't anymore).
- Restarted with /etc/init.d/slmodemd restart
- then the following message appeared:

Loading SmartLink Modem driver into kernel ... failed.
