Package: mongodb-server
Version: 1:2.0.7-1
Severity: normal
The mongodb packages in Debian are in a not-so-great state of maintenance.
In particular, the mongodb-server package does not say which adaptations (to
conform to the Debian policy) were made to the package.
For instance, it lacks a README.Debian file telling *where* the databases
are stored (that is, /var/lib/mongodb), as it diverges from upstream's
default:
http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/configuration-options/#dbpath
The actual package where *any* README.Debian is found is in the mongodb
package, which is a metapackage depending on both the server and the client.
Even then, the information about Debian-specific parts is missing from that
file.
BTW, the user that chooses to install only the the server package will not
have the documentation.
Regards,
