Dear Maintainer,
   * What led up to the situation?

Installed plymouth, set theme "joy", booted with option "splash"

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Plymouth splash shows, system flips to text screen, appears hung.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Smooth switch from plymouth to X

With an ATI/AMD "Cedar PRO" graphics card Plymouth somehow prevents X working.
